A trip to Southern California’s Wine Country is a must for San Francisco tourists and locals alike. With the Wine Country Explorer Pass from Smart Destinations, you can plan a trip that includes some of the top vineyards and tasting rooms, and make time for a little shopping, too. The pass is good for two consecutive days, and it includes free tastings at 10 wineries plus a Taste Downtown Napa card that’s good for 10-cent tastings at nine more vineyards. If you really want to treat yourself, the card includes discounts for spa treatments and the Napa Premium Outlets, too.

NOTE. The Wine Country Pass is no longer available. Though not the same, we recommend you look at the Go San Francisco Card or San Francisco CityPass if you are in the area.

What’s Good?

This pass is perfect for visitors who want to see a lot of different wineries in Napa and Sonoma Valley. It’s possible to visit almost every location in two days, which adds up to $70 savings.

What Could get better?

The pass is only good for daytime admission to each destination.

Reservations may be required for tastings at some of the wineries, so some pre-planning is still needed.

The Sonoma Spa on the Plaza discount is not valid on Saturdays.

Get Your Money’s Worth

The free shipping offer at Goosecross Cellars can be a huge savings if you plan to bring home cases of wine. Make sure your state allows wine to be shipped there first!

Insider Wine Country Explorer Pass Tips

Your Wine Country Explorer Pass is activated by the first attraction you visit. Your consecutive day passes are not counted in 24-hour increments. For example, if you activate your card at 4 pm, that counts as day one of your two-consecutive-day pass.
