Las Vegas Explorer Pass Strengths?

The really useful thing about this pass is its flexibility. You aren’t restricted to visiting a specific set of 5 attractions, or having only one or two choices. You can choose from 11 top attractions, many of which are family-friendly options (something you don’t always find in Vegas).

The Las Vegas Explorer Pass is a good option for travelers who want to do some things, but don’t want to spend their entire vacation sightseeing. Unlike an all-inclusive pass, this product allows you to choose only a select few attractions to visit without the pressure to do as much as possible in order to make the most of your pass.

It’s also nice to have 30 days to visit the attractions, so you can use this pass if you’re a local who wants to do one thing at a time or a visitor making multiple weekend trips.

Because you choose which attractions you want to see as you go along, groups can choose to visit different attractions so that everyone gets to see what she’s most interested in.

Another top feature is their instant delivery option. That means you can get a digital version of the pass delivered instantly to your e-mail and then use the pass on a smartphone or tablet. It’s convenient, eco-friendly, and you don’t have to keep track of any booklets or tickets. A handy option for you last-minute planners out there, too!

The free digital guidebook that comes with the pass is a great resource for out-of-town visitors, including maps, directions, hours, phone numbers, websites, information on transit options, and more.

What Could get better?

The Las Vegas Explorer Pass, unlike some of Smart Destinations’ other Explorer Pass products, limits you to a maximum of 5 choices. If you plan on being in Vegas for 5 days or a week, this may seem like you’re lacking in options.

A couple of the choices are also most appropriate for adults (and some are even restricted to adults only), so if you’re traveling with family you may find yourself a little limited in what you can all do together.

The pass also doesn’t yet include some attractions that you think should be on there, like the Las Vegas Natural History Museum or the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art.

Get Your Money’s Worth with the Las Vegas Explorer Pass

The best way to maximize your value with this pass is to make sure that you’re paying less for the pass than you would for the attractions you’re visiting. Because several of the attractions come at a pretty high price point, you’re definitely going to be getting your money’s worth out of a card if you visit those attractions.

For example, a 3-Choice Explorer Pass costs $65 per adult. If you visit Madame Tussauds (gate price $29.95), the Stratosphere Observation Deck (gate price $30), and Big Bus Las Vegas (gate price $39), you’re getting $98.95 worth of value out of the card while only having paid $65.

However, if you visit cheaper attractions like The Mob Museum (gate price $21.95), the Gondola Rides at the Venetian (gate price $19.95), and Planet Hollywood (gate price $25), you’re getting $66.90 worth of value while having paid $65 – not the best way to maximize your deals.

Of course, as you can see by this example, even the cheapest attractions save you some money, so it’s hard to go wrong in buying this pass.

Another thing to keep an eye out for is any free admission days to museums, or any discounts that may be available to members of the military, seniors, students, or Nevada residents. Look through the list of available attractions, make a rough list of what you want to see, and then visit attraction websites to see if they have any current deals going on. This will allow you to make a more informed decision about whether you want the 3- or 5-Choice Explorer Pass, and help you decide what you want to see along the way.

Insider Las Vegas Explorer Pass Tips

Look for Las Vegas Explorer Pass signage at certain attractions for VIP access, which often means skip-the-line privileges.

Since the pass is currently only available for instant delivery, you’ll be using e-tickets. If you don’t have a smartphone or don’t like using one when you travel, it’s easy to print out your tickets and use them as paper copies. And if you lose them, you can just print them out again!

If you really want to maximize your value, the 5-Choice Explorer Pass is a better deal than the 3-Choice, given that most of the attractions are valued between $30-40.
