The Stockholm Card, or Stockholmskortet as it’s called in Swedish, is the premier smart card tourist pass for the Swedish capital. It’s good for 24, 48, 72, or 120 hours and includes free admission to 75 different attractions plus unlimited rides on public transportation. Children’s cards are available for kids age 7 through 17.

The Stockholm Card has been acquired by Go City and has been updated to the Go Stockholm Pass. It does not have the public transport option but is does have more attractions and tours included.

The card represents 4,000 Swedish krona, or over $600, worth of admission and discounts, and the more you see, the more you’ll save. The transportation option is good for all buses and trains on the SL (Storstockholms Lokaltrafik) system, which covers all of Stockholm County.

Some of the top attractions and biggest savings available with the Stockholm Card include Vasa Museum with its preserved 1628 ship (normally 95.00kr, about $14.50), the Junibacken story train (110.00kr), the Aquaria Water Museum (80.00kr), and the Gröna Lund Tivoli or amusement park (70.00kr).

The Stockholm Card can be activated anytime within a year of purchase, and it comes with a 194-page guidebook in Swedish, English, German, French, Spanish, Finnish, and Italian.

What’s Good?

The Stockholm Card covers almost everything that a tourist in the city would want to visit.

It’s good for 24-hour increments, rather than calendar days, so if you visit your first attraction on Thursday at 6 pm with a 24-hour card, your card expires at 6 pm on Friday.

What Could get better?

The pick-up location in the city can be hard to find and can require a long wait to trade in your voucher for the card itself. Choose delivery or airport pick-up if you can.

You won’t need to purchase a separate SL Tourist Card, as all transportation on the SL system is included with the Stockholm Card.

In general, you’ll have to visit four attractions or tours to get the most value from a 24-hour Stockholm Card.

The card is available at many outlets. You can buy it at Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity or you can buy it once you get to Stockholm but these are not great options as you may pay more. The best place the buy the card is at the Official website.
