The Sydney Sightseeing from New South Wales-based Australian company Smartvisit Solutions is a flexible way to see the city’s top attractions at a price that starts around $AU 108. The program is similar to CityPass’s vouchers in North American destinations, as opposed to a pre-paid smart card.

The pass includes vouchers for admission to the Sydney Aquarium, the most popular single attraction in the country; Sydney Tower with its 360-degree panorama of the city plus the OzTrek 3D hologram virtual tour of Australia; and Sydney Wildlife World. You can also choose one of the following tours: the Sydney Harbor Highlights 75-minute narrated cruise past major points of interest; the 65-minute Café Cruise departing from Darling Harbour complete with coffee and cakes; or the all-day Explorer Cruise which is a hop-on-hop-off tour of six major attractions.

What’s Good?

You have 3 months from the date of purchase to use your pre-paid vouchers, so you can take your time. This also makes the pass great for locals who want to play tourist in their own city.

What Could get better?

There’s no flexibility in attractions with this pass, except for your choice of cruise.

There are other options when you visit Sydney. Try looking up the Sydney Darling Harbour Pass, the Sydney Flexi Attractions Pass or the Sydney Unlimited Attractions Pass

Get Your Money’s Worth

The three attractions offer their own combination admission pass called Explore4 for $AU 49.99 for an adult ticket, so the value in the Sydney Sightseeing Pass really comes from the cruises. If they don’t interest you, you’re better off purchasing the 3-month Explore4 pass (which also includes Ocean World Manly) at any of the attractions’ box offices.

Insider Tips

Most attractions close around 5 pm, but the Sydney Aquarium is open until 8 pm during peak season.

You’re also entitled to the use of a pair of high-powered binoculars during your visit to the Sydney Tower when you use the Sydney Sightseeing Pass.
