The Salzburg Card is a pre-paid smart card that gives you free admission to more than 30 attractions. It’s good for 24, 48, or 72 consecutive hours, and is activated the first time you use it. It also includes free rides on public transportation throughout “The City of Mozart.”
Like any inclusive pass, the more you use it, the more you’ll save, so it’s best for sightseers who want to visit as many attractions as they can.
Free transportation includes the Fortress funicular, the Untersberg cableway, and the Salzach River ferry.
Discounted kids’ passes are available for children between 6 and 15 years old, and all passes are discounted during off-peak tourist season between November and April.

What’s Good?
Salzburg has many music festivals and theater performances. Look for discounts in your Salzburg Card brochure for orchestral concerts, plays, puppet theaters, and more.
What Could get better?
Some customers reported that the location for picking up your pass in the city was out of date in the guidebook. Ask at the tourist information center at the train station if you’re having trouble.
The hop-on-hop-off bus tour isn’t included, but you can get a discount with your Salzburg Card.

Like any pre-paid pass, the more you see, the more you’ll save, so you’ll get the best value from a 48- or 72-hour pass. You’ll have to see about 4 attractions in one day to get the most from a 24-hour pass.
Salzburg Card Insider Tips
The views from the top of the Hohensalzburg Castle are not to be missed. A funicular ride is included with the Salzburg Card, but it is sometimes closed for maintenance during the off season so double check before setting off, and prepare for a lot of stairs.

Where to Buy It
The card is available at many outlets. You can buy it at Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity or you can buy it once you get to Salzburg but these are not great options as you may pay more.
