How the Philadelphia Explorer Pass Works
The Philadelphia Explorer Pass is a digital pass that grants you admission to your selected attractions. Simply arrive on location and get your Explorer Pass scanned at the entrance gate to gain admission.
The Philadelphia Explorer Pass offers you your choice of 3, 4, 5, or 7 attractions out of a total of some 31 options. You purchase the denomination of the pass in advance, and can’t add or subtract attractions later.
The Philadelphia Explorer Pass is designed to work seamlessly via the Go City Card App. This well-regarded app can be downloaded for free, but if you’d rather not do so then it is no problem at all to instead print out your Explorer Pass.
The Philadelphia Explorer Pass is valid for 30 days after you activate it with your first attraction visit. You have one year from the date of purchase to use the pass.
What’s Good?
If you have a smartphone, you’re in luck, as all Go City Card products are accessible digitally. This means never having to print out your pass or needing to wait around for your pass to be mailed to you before you can use it.

Many of the attractions available through the Philadelphia Explorer Pass are located close to one another geographically. If you know there is a certain attraction you want to visit for sure, take the time to look at a map and see what other attractions covered by your Explorer Pass might be situated nearby. This could save you a lot of time, effort, and money, as parking throughout Philadelphia is never cheap!
Occasionally, certain attractions will require you make advance reservations. In these instances, you might even have to provide a credit card so as to book the reservations. However, you will not be charged anything at all unless you do not show up at the scheduled time. Simply call up the Go City Card website attraction page to learn if the attraction you’re interested in requires reservations; if it does, you’ll find it marked with an “R,” as well as more details about how to make such arrangements.
