How the Go Helsinki Card Works
The Go Helsinki Card is a single travel card that covers the cost of your admission to over 25 of Helsinki’s most significant attractions. It’s available as a 1-day, 2-day, or 3-day card.
Once you purchase your Go Helsinki Card, you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail. Print that e-mail and take it with you to one of the card collection sites found throughout Helsinki, where you’ll receive your Go Helsinki Card.
Once you have your Go Helsinki Card in hand, you’re ready to start exploring. All you’ll need to do is get your card scanned at each attraction’s entrance gate and you’re off! You can visit as many attractions as you want during the duration of your card, and you won’t need to pay anything out of pocket along the way.
What’s Good on a Go Helsinki Card
Your Go Helsinki Card can be activated at any time for up to 2 years after you buy it. Once you buy it, you have 90 days to return your unactivated card for any reason and receive a full refund. This flexibility gives you extra peace of mind as you go about planning your adventure.
Your Go Helsinki Card entitles you to special discounts at a number of area attractions. As a result, you won’t just be saving money on entry fees when you buy a Go Helsinki Card, you’ll be setting yourself up to potentially save money on food, souvenirs, tours, and more throughout the city.
Helsinki is known for having a well-regarded public transportation system, and your Go Helsinki Card lets you access it! That’s right, your Go Helsinki Card works as a travelcard, too, meaning you can use it for unlimited rides on all of Helsinki’s public buses, trams, trains, and ferries.
What Could Get Better?
Unlike many other Go City products, at the moment the Go Helsinki Card is not available as a digital product. This means that while you’ll still have access to all the great features of a traditional Go City travel pass, you won’t have the convenience of downloading your Go Helsinki Card right onto your smart phone.
Some visitors feel a bit constrained by the fact that you must use your Go Helsinki Card consecutively. This means that, if you active your 3-day card at 12:00pm on a Tuesday, it will expire exactly 72 hours later, at noon on Friday.
Get Your Money’s Worth with a Go Helsinki Card
The keys to saving as much money as possible with your Go Helsinki Card are to activate your card as early in the morning as possible, use it first and foremost at the attractions with the most expensive admission prices, and visit as many attractions as possible for the duration of the card. If you accomplish these three feats, you’ll be stretching your money as far as it can go.
To try and put a more specific figure on just how much you might save with a Go Helsinki Card, tackle this little math exercise. Add up the regular cost of admission to all the attractions you plan to visit, then subtract from that number the cost of a Go Helsinki Card. The answer represents just how much money you can expect to save with your all-inclusive card.
Be certain to take advantage of the many special offers available to you as a Go Helsinki cardholder. These perks include such highlights as 20% off food items at certain restaurants, 10% off rental cars, and complimentary postcards from various souvenir shops, just to name a few. You’ll find a full list of these bonus benefits available at the Go Helsinki Card website.
Insider Tips: Go Helsinki Card
Some of Helsinki’s most popular attractions—including SEA LIFE Helsinki and the Beautiful Canal Route Cruise—either require reservations, recommend reservations, or limit tour capacity. To make sure you can visit the attractions you want to visit at the time(s) you want to visit them, it’s highly recommended that you book your spot in advance. You won’t have to pay anything extra—even if they ask for credit card information, that’s just to guarantee the reservation.
Your Go Helsinki Card comes with a free digital guidebook. This handy resource can be downloaded straight to your smartphone, and comes loaded with helpful information like attraction details, city maps, tour routes, and more.
