The Barcelona Card, offered by Barcelona.com, includes pre-paid admission to 16 attractions and discounts at many others. Its most appealing benefit is that it offers free unlimited travel on public transportation, including the metro and city buses, as well as the train from terminal 2 at Barcelona International Airport.

The card is available for 2, 3, 4, or 5 consecutive days. It's activated the first time you use it, and that day counts as your first full day no matter how late in the day it is (so beware before activating it for airport transport if you're arriving in the evening).

It comes with a guidebook with detailed information about the 16 included attractions, and coupons good for discounts at more than 80 other attractions, restaurants, cafés, and shops.

Free admissions include the Chocolate Museum, the Caixa Forum science museum, the Jardi Botanic, the Museu Fundació Antoni Tàpies, the Ceramic Museum, and more.

The pass will be a great value for most people who use the transportation option. It is also a great valye if you plan on using the discounts on restaurants, clubs, entertainment that are discounted with the card.

If you are just planning on going to some of the included museums, you will be better off just paying for each when you get there.

Insider Tips

The card doesn't provide transportation from nearby Girona-Costa or Reus Airports, only Barcelona International.

Ask for a bus route map when you pick up your tickets. Most locations will have them, and this information is not in the guide book.

Where to Buy it

The card is available at many outlets. You can buy it at Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity or you can buy it once you get to Barcelona but these are not great options as you may pay more.
